Angry Our line is no longer able.....

.... to support ADSL2+, so Sky have switched us to G.D.M.T and are refusing to investigate further.

We used to be able to get 10 to 12 Mbps, but are now stuck at 8Mbps.

Also, we were one of the first to be put on DLM many moons ago, and when that messed up our line, and Sky fixed it back (4 months later ) we were assured that we would not be put on it again.

Guess what, they put us on it last week and slowed us down to 4Mbps with only a 512Kbps upload.

They have now reset to 8Mbps and 768Kbps on G.D.M.T but are unable to reconnect us to ADSL2+

They just keep saying that due to more Broadband users in the area (not just Sky) our line must have been reconfigured, so no more ADSL2+

They are refusing to contact BT about this issue

This has been ongoing since November 2008 and we are now at the end of our tether.

We have the complete package with them (Sky+HD, Sky+, Sky Talk Unlimited, Phone rental to Sky and Sky BB Max/Unlimited) so you can imagine how much we are paying them each month.

Our last ticket to CST went unanswered again, and they claim they sent a text message informing us they had reconfigured the connection, before closing the ticket. No text, and the line was still 4Mbps

This is getting beyond a joke. We wish Virgin Media (then NTL) did not mess up the cable instalation in our street by laying the pipework in the wrong place all those years ago, as we wanted to switch even then.

Current stats :
Connection Speed : Down 8160kbps Up 768kbps
Line Attenuation : Down 37db Up 21db
Noise Margin : Down 8db Up 13db

Re: Our line is no longer able.....

Can you post your stats from your test socket if you have one - Sky User - How to test your Master Socket

Also make sure you got nothing else connected to your line and that any other telephone soclets are dead when you do this.

Re: Our line is no longer able.....

The stats are the same.
There is no ring wire, and we use a filtered faceplate
Sorry, I forgot to mention that.
I also forgot to mention that Sky took us off the gamer profile for no reason. They have now switched it back, but they keep making changes without letting us know

Re: Our line is no longer able.....

TBH with that line attentuation you should only be looking around 9-10mbps anyway, I'm not sure how you managed to get 12mbps in the past.

If you're that fed up with them then maybe it's time to ask for your MAC and move to another ISP.

Re: Our line is no longer able.....

Seriously humour us with a new set of stats from test and normal socket, if possible change the filter in use too just in case. Your line with those stats is in no way able to handle 12 as stated.

Re: Our line is no longer able.....

When we were getting 12 the Attenuation was a little bit lower.
We're not wanting to leave, we just want them to investigate why our line can no longer handle ADSL2+ and to actualy communicate.
Test socket stats are the same. No change whatsoever

Then that points to a external line fault that may have developed to cause the slower speed.
