Sky Connect is HORRIFIC
I recently moved house from 5 miles from exchange to about a kilometre. I thought oh yes 8mb broadband instead of 1mb broadband. The first two weeks i spent on the phone as my ip profile was set to 250 kbps. This was eventally removed and it came on at 7.1 mg i was delighted. However since then every night from around 4 till midnight and every weekend i get throttled to 0.35mg to 0.48mb. I cannot use my ps3 to any reasonable degree no vidzone or downloads or online gaming or bbci player. I cannot use my 360 for games talking video chats or downloading. and basic web browsing on the pc is horribly slow and i cannot watch anything with streaming video. I spend days on the phone with there technical department getting promised this that and the other. they promised me 9 call backs 2 of which i recieved. Then the last call back which did come was a woman saying this is a problem for all connect users and we are working on this however there is no timescale for this. That minute i requested my mac code and called bt as they only other providers here and it is there exchange. I have till feb left on my contract and have sent a letter demanding that my contract be canclled with no further charges applied and a refund as off when the service became unusable. I intend to take this all the way if they decline my first polite and reasonable letter. They have no defense of this service as it is no kind of service at all getting 7mb when im at work all days is about as much use a chocolate fireguard. I didnt particualry want to go to BT but i have no choice and am intested if you can offer any advice or just generally advise if you have had similar problems. advice of the contract would also be most gratefull.
Thanks

Although BT are the wholesaler, other ISPs will be available at your exchange. After all, if you are on Connect, you are using BT as it is, as it is a re-badged BT product. Shop around before you commit, ADSL24 and Plusnet come highly commended.
It is a pity you did not have a look at this forum before you signed up to Connect, I know what you would have been advised to do.

Hi can you put your exchange on your next post or have a look at SamKnows Broadband - Availability - Exchange Search and just follow the instructions

Re: Sky Connect is HORRIFIC
I did not post my exchange as i did not see the relevance. These is no complication with the exchange its 8mb as stated and i live ik from it. However it is Fort William. I used to be a former openreach engineer however my knowledge of e side adsl is minimal as i dealt mainly with d sides. So there is no need for the idiots guides solutions as much as i appreciate your assistance. although i firmly believe there is no solution as sky throttl;e the service for what reason i dont know. i presume its technical but why do others not do this? again i dont know some reasonsd for this would interesting if anyone knows preferably not guesses as i can do that myself. As similar posts i have read they are doing themselves more harm than good but with the majority of ppl just browsing and sending email or accepting there speed they figure its worth the complaints. mUst be 1000's who dont even know they are being ripped off. There custopmer services stink there technical help is about as technical as a coffee cup and i intend to cancel my tv as well now due to their attitude as i only have it for the football but you can now get all sky sports games free off the net live so whats the point.. There loss of around a 1000 pound a year for tv phone and adsl. sure there is loads more like me

£ notes, sky have bought x ammount of bandwidth and have more users than this can cope with at peak times. They are not prepared to buy more. Also it has been muted that their traffic management system has not been implemented correctly so it is effecting all users.

Hi the reason I wanted to know your exchange was to be able to see if you had any LLU at your exchange I see you do not you could browse through Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that offer broadband services in the United Kingdom : check them out and see what there Customers think or as Isitme has pointed out ADSL24 and Plusnet there are ex sky Customers who have migrated to ADSL24 and Plusnet and given some good reports.
That was the reason for asking you your exchange

I'm sorry, but this says you do need some guidance from 'idiots'.

BT are not the only ISP on your exchange, a fact you do not appear to be aware of. If you don't want advice, why ask for it?

Sorry you see it like that, but several ISPs would supply you with Broadband from your exchange at better cost and conditions than BT. You are obviously the type who asks for advice with no intention of taking it . If you had come here before you joined Connect you would have been advised not to take it. Don't blame others for your unfortunate mistake.
