the BT speed test for Connect customers is a dsl status check on the BTW website - its a tool available to ALL CST agents and one i use before anything else to see sync speed an IP profile...

Your test socket must work or none of your other sockets will. When you remove the faceplate do you have dial tone on any other sockets in your house?

If you don't have dial tone, put a small amount of WD40 or similar on to a phone plug and work it in and out of the Test socket half a dozen times. Then try again.

i know

IF there is a test socket and it doesn't work then it might not be the master (or if it is, incorrectly wired)...

has been known for ALL sockets in a house to be NTE-5 sockets -doesn't help when trying to diagnose issues...
