Frustrated Connect User...
Well I am slowly getting thoroughly peed off with my connection........
I moved house last September, I moved to a cable enabled area but was told I could not have cable (since proved to be untrue)
I reluctantly went with Sky, who took an order for Max, telephone and tv...
Didnt really want the tv but overall I was happy with the deal struck
..........Then......... oh no you cant have max you can only have connect - its an extra £7
Finally reluctantly agreed - the service is worse than terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT IS ALWAYS disconnecting (every time my back is turned) it is very slow and very unreliable - It is basically unuseable
YES I have rewired house and changed faceplates - ad nauseum
I should not have to do this..........
I have been on the net since it was invented and NEVER had such an ordeal I would like to know...........
Will the new firmware improve matters?(no technical answers please)
Any ideas when POYNTON exchange is likely to be upgraded?
Any other suggestions - not involving wiring please (I already done as much as possible without knocking house down)
Otherwise come September Sky can S*D *FF!!!!!!!!!!!
..............OK rant over

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
I was just looking back thru your posts to see if youve posted any router stats anywhere and I spotted this :-
"Hi guys n gals,
You sorted my home sky BB perfectly"
So whats changed ? If you could post current stats it would be helpful.

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
well at the time my post was correct........
time has passed and quality of service has deteriorated
......with respect ( and thanks for reply) what good will stats do????
I am stuck with my hardware...Wiring etc - I was never convinced it was that anyhow.
I suspect my problem is either the router or exchange but I lack the technical expertise to prove this
My neighbour on one side has a BT 8meg connection - which is fine and has no probs
My service is very erratic - some times I spend hours trying to get a connection only for it to freeze - usually halfway through loading a page (usually this forum!)

Reason: spelling - just had to reboot router twice whilst attempting edit

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
You could be right about the problem being at the exchange, however if this is the case it is very difficult ( from my connect days experience ) to get sky to do anything about it. I guess that this is because bt ( openreach or whatever ) will charge sky.
I asked for the stats because they can tell a lot about the line condition, and if you have the V1 router the detailed stats can be really helpful.

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
At the risk of causing further irritation, I have had a look through your post about your wiring, I think it is like this.
The line enters in to your loft, to a junction box and then lines leave this to your sockets, one of which will be the master. (If you have since changed this, then please forgive me) This is the worst set-up for BB you can have and I am sure that it is the root of your problems.

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
I think it has changed.... Loft now has master socket first then short 1.5m cable to a split adsl/tel line socket then router. Only other connection from master goes to skybox downstairs

Re: Frustrated Connect User...
Where is your router, I suspect not in the loft, if not what are you using to connect it to the master in the loft ?
PS theres a ton of errors there and an unhealthy low nm especially for the V1 router.
What FW is the router running ? ......28?
