sky charging more for BB than agreed on signup

Hi,

I phone sky up 2 weeks ago to get the 26 quid offer for BB/phone/tv package ,after about half an hour i was told that the package wouldn't be available as I'm not in the sky broadband area, therefore it would cost 38 quid, i then told them i wasn't interested.

Sky phone back and said is there any way i could cut the cost down in the package,i said i had my own router and could use that, which she then supposedly got onto her supervisor and they agreed to knock it down to 28 quid all in.

so a happy customer, then a Sagem router arrives in the post,i didn't want to use that as i would be sending it back to sky unopened to make sure they weren't being fly and charge me for it.

spent all day trying to get connected to sky with my own router, and couldn't
figure out why i couldn't get sign in using the sky user-name and password.
search the internet and found that i had to use Sky's Sagem router as in Sky's t&cs i wasn't told that when signing up on phone, i then found this site and James sky crack so i could use my own router

I got a bill yesterday saying i was being charged 35 quid instead of the agreed 28 quid package, which means my BB is being charged at 17 quid instead of the agreed 10 pounds.

got on to customer service/support/sales/etc.etc and they all agreed that it was down as special offer of 28 pound but could couldn't get the authority to correct their mistake, and i have to use the sky router, blah blah.

So more time to-day phoning the B*stards to sort this out, will let you's know how i get on.

If they are charging you £17 then you are on the connect package not mid.
This is a rebadged bt product they offer when the exchange does not contain their llu equipment.

yeah i'm on their connect package after looking, but still i was told by the sales that i would be charged a tenner & confirmed by other support teams this was the case, i was also told i could use my own router, and call centres were not in India as i don't support the greedy companies like AOL off shoring jobs.

I feel I've been scam as it is costing me a fortune on phone calls but it is the lies I'ved been told when signing up with them that annoys me,other than that i'm happy with Rupert's service so far apart from customer sales/support teams.

blatantly letting Sky know you're using your own router will get you booted off quicker than anything!!

How were you trying to connect to sky in the first place without their router as they dont give out user names and passwords to customers?

He had a router sent to him that he refused to use but then used the crack to get his details out of it.

Hi folks
i phoned sky up tonight and got it sorted,so i am getting it for 28quid all in,the bill that came to me was automated and excluded any offers that sales made to me,so a happy sky customer in the end.my mistake but is confusing with all the Sh!t they send in the post.

What is the problem with using your own router apart from their T&Cs is sky trying to force customers to use only their routers so they can target them with more adverts popping up all over the place and gather user habits and sell them on to malware companies like these ones do Bt/Virgin/Carphone warehouse perhaps.

Besides i was never one to follow rules and regulations in real life that's why i went to the trouble of using my own router.

It is simply so that when people contact them about a connection problem or an issue with the router they will know what model you are using and will be able to assist better which would be harder to do if people were to use their own routers.
