Sky Cancelled My Broadband "by mistake" - Warning

I am new to Sky Broadband.
I got migrated from Pipex very smoothly. The time from the Pipex connection stopping to Sky BB getting activated was around 20 mins, and it happened on the date Sky had advised.
All was well - I was getting around 9MB download speed, and was pleased with my decision to switch to Sky.

Then 2 weeks later, out of the blue, my BB went down.
I called Sky, and tech support advised that my service was cancelled.

I spoke to several different people trying to work out what had happened.
I hadn't cancelled it.

This is what I was told:

My BB connection was cancelled by a bug in Sky's Customer Service system, because a completely unrelated engineering job I had booked (to replace a digibox) was cancelled.
Apparently this is a known issue with Sky's customer services software.

If you have an engineer booked to call out to you for any Sky service (i.e Digiboxes/Dishes), which is then cancelled - and you also happen to have a Sky BB subscription - then Sky's own system may cancel your BB subscription - without any word of warning.

To rub salt in the wounds - I got a text message from Sky advising my broadband was active the same day it went down!

I was offline for 10 days and was re-activated today.

Unfortunately, you are not alone, Sky have been aware of this for months and refuse to do anything about it.

Sky Idiocy Vent
Max package Cancelled in error by Sky

And I've seen it plenty of times more... but at 10 days, looks like you were one of the lucky ones

My mistake - I wouldn't on any other forum, but quick reply on this is disabled until you hit either quote or that funny blue button (which I forget since this functionality's different to any other forum) - if quick reply was enabled straight away I'd have just written my reply :P

Re: Sky Cancelled My Broadband "by mistake" - Warning

Sky seem to do a lot of things 'by mistake', they've just cancelled my SKY TALK 'by mistake'. Am waiting on an explanation as to how this happened.

Appalling customer service.
