      Madam secretary issues

Looked forward to the new series, but found the picture and sound quality abysmal! Almost as if it was being transmitted in SD.

Needless to say the adverts were fine of course. Anyone else see this?

      Re: Madam secretary issues

I can't say that I didn't notice the drop in quality. I've just restored the first episode and I'll have another watch tomorrow once the sun has risen.

Does anyone know if the source is 1080 or 720? This is made by CBS. A lot of US shows are actually recorded in 720 and upgraded to 1080 when they arrive on our shores. I'm not sure about CBS or specifically this show.

      Thanks Scubbie,
There was a strange blur and considering it was SKY1 HD, it was not good. Last of the Summer Wine on SD was better quality!

Will see how episode 2 goes.

      Re: Madam secretary issues

      Ok just watching it again...

Certainly in the opening sequences the credits are very blocky and the hair is more blurred than I'd expect for something that should be HD. That's not even 5 mins in (including ads at the beginning).

I'll raise it with someone from Sky.

yep - I noticed it too. Picture was terrible and certainly not HD. It also looked like the picture was stretched too.
      Unwatchable for me.

A little feedback for you both...

The OD version is a little better than the version which was broadcast.

Obviously the live version has been broadcast now so there isn't much that can be done to resolve it, but if you'd like to download the version from CUTV you should be Ok.

I've asked for this feedback to be passed to the people who can deal with this and ensure it's not repeated. It is unusual though so well spotted Meteosat!

Thanks Scubbie - with a piece of detached eye gel which has stuck on the centre of one eye - the last thing I want is extra blur!

      Re: Madam secretary issues

Second in the series, much better HD, but looking more carefully at the sections where there is significant movement I would wonder if the frame rate was OK. Our TV is just a couple of years old, and didn't notice this on other HD channels.

      Just a thought....

      Cheers
