That BT are to divert millions of marketing and similar calls.

Can we expect Sky to join in with a similar service?

Don't know but as Sky don't even support text (SMS) messaging my guess is, "No".

      Thanks seawright.

      Was thinking the same.

If BT come up with a bundle now that they own EE I might go back - Mobile Phone, Fibre Broadband,BT TV and landline with unlimited calls?

I doubt it, but will wait and see

Or just get a BT8500 phone or similar which has a call screening and blocking function. Perfect for blocking the 'survey' companies that call 3 or 4 times a day.

Or just ignore incoming calls from "withheld" and unrecognided numbers (not in your caller display phonebook).

      Re: Nuisance and Unwanted Calls

Talktalk allows the blocking of 10 numbers and more if you report them. My Panasonic phone also allows number blocking, but there are so many the number you are allowed to block is soon filled. I have to delete the older ones every now and again.

Best ploy or like we have now, no landline call package anymore
So easy to type the number into Google and see its the latest pretend MS computer scam call, or whatever it is.
Still find it beyond belief that people feel the need to answer these calls and fall for these scams. Just keep seeing reports of these mugs in our local rag at least once a fortnight.

Agreed, would do this except we still have (valid) callers who persist in/insist on calling us on the landline number.

      Re: Nuisance and Unwanted Calls

One thing I read on these calls the other day.
We know they are automated dial, and so you can pick up and no answer.
Of course as soon as you answer one, your number is on the open market and gets scored on how gullable and whether you acknowledged your name during the call.
But I read that they now determine that if a call is answering machined, it will log as a success but go onto a recall list at different times.
Secondly, they have got wise to people increasing the 3 rings for answer machines, and from above 'success' increase that to a longer ring sequence.
Many more tricks too I expect.

Yes I've noticed that "recalling at different times" thing from some numbers (unanswered calls go to voicemail). But they eventually give up!

Been doing this determinedly now for a year or so and have definitely noticed a general decrease in the number of calls over the last 3 or 4 months.
