      Line Interferance

Hope someone can help or advise. Currently got sky bb unlimited,tv package and the phone. Whenever someone rings or when we ring out it cuts the broadband connection out completely. Also when making calls sometimes its all most unbearable (crackling/fuzzy). Also when a phone is connected to the line the speeds drop by a few mb. Can anyone advise on what I can do please?

      Re: Line Interferance

You have a line fault that may require a visit from BTO to fix.

Before calling Sky, can you plug the router and telephone into the Test socket to ensure that the isn't an internal wiring problem? Also test with just the telephone to see if there is any noise. It is best to test with a corded telephone not a wireless one.

If you don't have a test socket, unplug everything else, except the telephone to see if the noise is present. Again check with a corded telephone.

To perform a quiet line test dial '1' and listen for any noise. If the router is disconnected the should be very little noise.

If there is a lot of noise and the above check appear to confirm a line problem, call your Line Provider (if you have Sky Talk, then this will be sky).

Call up your phone rental provider(Sky?) and report a very noisy line. Get that fixed and your broadband will improve. You do have your phones and other devices plugged into filters?
