Angry Sky v setanta

Hi, I have been on the sky full package for a long time, but I dont see how they can justify the increase this year when they have lost so much to setanta. they have lost most of the us golf and a lot of the premiership matches, so the package should have gone down not up:

Re: Sky v setanta

isn't the setanta footy the old Prem Plus Box Office footy. There are more prem games on skysports 1/2/3 this year compared to last i thought?

As for the US golf, wasn't most of that adverts due to the poor host broadcasters so you ain't missing much! (but i take your point on the golf).

Re: Sky v setanta

The Sentanta sports package is the old box office one which you had to pay extra for. And as said above there are more football games this season on Sky than what there was last season. Plus there is a whole host other sports like cricket, rugby and the like. Sky sports doesn't just mean football.

Re: Sky v setanta

I feel sky are playing on words when they say that there is more football on sky this year, although there may be more football, I do not believe there is more premiership football. I remember watching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday night football as well as weekend football.
I have been with sky for many years and believe what they offer as a total package is fantastic, however I love watching premiership football and there is definitely less of it this year on sky....!
Does anyone know the number of games there is year on year on sky?

Re: Sky v setanta

I haven't got the figures to hand but I believe that there is more Premiership games on this season although only by a few, something like six.

Unhappy Re: Sky v setanta

I dont know the figures, but sky seem to be showing a lot more championship matches, on monday nights and saturday and sunday lunchtimes. the american golf coverage I agree was sub standard, but at least it was there to record, and skip through the adverts, now there is nothing. I used to pay £50 for a premplus season ticket, and nothing for the golf, but I would have to pay setanta £9.99 a month to replace them. that is the point I was trying to make.

Re: Sky v setanta

yeah i take your point. don't blame sky thou, blame the EU Commission who broke up the footy rights to provide competition to sky. The idea is that a monopoly is bad for the consumer, but in this instance the EU's decision has meant the consumer is worse off.

Ignoring the golf aspect for a second, they've not lost any football have they? As the games now on Setanta were previously on Prem Plus, not Sky Sports.
