Re: Sky v setanta

Seemingly Setanta have been trying to launch an HD channel but have had problems with Sky giving them a licence for the encryption system, I think Ofcom are involved with getting it resolved. They've leased another transponder though and the last I heard they were hoping to get HD and some other new channels launched later this year or next year.

Interesting article here about Setanta:

Terrestrial - News - Setanta: More football will bring subs - Digital Spy

Quote:
An Enders Analysis report this week said the firm would be vulnerable to a takeover if it could not break even, which requires several hundred thousand new subscribers to join.
I can see them getting a load of new subscribers myself.

Dont worry i saw in it my local lol, nothing wrong with watching Harry lose whilst sipping the odd Stella , Seriously though you cant blame Setanta, only the market forces. Its a bummer though with England home games being shown on a minority channel

Re: Sky v setanta

I only joined Sky last week with watching premiership footy in mind and was absolutely dumbfounded by the line up this year and have found myself also signing up for Setanta. Now I could live with that, until I actually sat down to watch a SPL game on Saturday. AWFUL PQ! Absolutely disgusting.

£12.99 a month isn't small change considering the crap quality.

When people talk about Prem Plus HD, I really begin to understand what i'm not missing out on. Watching a game on Sky Sports HD Sunday it was absolutely brilliant and I just cannot for the life of me justify the Setanta pricing to myself.

If they hadn't have gotten the England games i'd have cancelled it already. :-(

Its beause its Scottish Football, which is poor quality lol
Do what I did, threaten to cancel and they will offer you Setanta for £7.50 for 6 months, or there has been an offer for the last month where for new customers itws £6.50, did you purchase Setanta before this offer?

I got the £6-50 a month offer so I suppose that's not too bad, atleast for the next few months. Guess it buys me some time.

Just seems with all these alternative channels competing the costs of Pay TV are rocketing. If you don't want to miss a game, your pretty much screwed.

The rate it's going an actual season ticket will be cheaper each year. lol

Re: Sky v setanta

If you think the quality is bad on satellite, you should try it on freeview. I had it last year and it was 10 times worse. I've now had Sky and signed up to Setanta and there's a definite difference, but it is watchable compared to last year.

Be interesting to see how the England game looks on Wednesday as i'm sure they'll be looking to put out their best for it.
