@ Disillusioned
I was at my Brothers and the very same thing was happening during Eastenders, it didn't seem to happen while we had Sky Sports on.

Well mines back on , both signal meters showing above 1/2 way and I havent touched thing...picture perfect ??
If I was paranoid I'd say SKY target users from time to time to make them upgrade
Seems very odd it can just go off then work fine, last time it did it was over a month ago and not missed a beat since then till now...now its been up and working fine for last 4 days since the signal failure xmas eve

I have noticed some back ground noise when Sky are running plugs for their movies on other channels, I think I have come across this as well when they are doing similar plugs for various sports that are taking place on the actual Sports Channels. I have only noticed this over this weekend though and it is only when the announcer bloke is talking.

Re: Enough to drive you mad
Well mine went off again last night just before Stargate Atlantis was due to start
, still wasn't on this morning so I've bitten the bullet and rung SKY, plan was to upgrade to SKY + ..It looked like it was only £99 anyway compared to £65 call out to fix old equipment, oh no you read the small print there's another £60 installation fee because I didn't want SKY multiroom..
They wouldn't move on the £60 extra so I've just booked an engineer at £65
Think a letter maybe sent though complaining about the £60 rip off, I live alone most of the week I don't need multiroom

Re: Enough to drive you mad
Well well, it pays to moan
sent an email to MYSKY [mysky@bskyb.com]
recieved the followingHello
Firstly some background, last year I needed an engineer visit to fix a No Signal fault, I paid the £65..just over 6 month later I start to get the same fault, I again ring SKY and get asked for another £65 to repair what seems to be exact same problem..I declined not happy with having to pay again so close to original call out, so did not book a visit, Signal returned but still goes off intermittently (not weather related)...So after seeing on your website SKY + upgrade was only £99 I thought kill two birds with one stone and upgrade to solve my problem....oh dear I didn't want Multiroom, I live alone I don't need multiroom so that will be an extra £60 ...yes I admit its in the small print but its very easily missed, but it wouldn't hurt for SKY to be a bit flexible with long standing customers who are paying £47 (SKY TV + £10 broadband) per month without fail...I await the usual standard reply thank you for reading my grumbling.
I begrudgingly booked an engineer and paid £65 this time

Re: Enough to drive you mad
Im also having the no signal problem. It happened a couple of weeks ago and i was told id have to pay £65 for an engineer which i couldnt afford at that time but it mysteriously sorted itself out a couple of days later anyway. But now its gone again, ive reset the lnb, unplugged it, left it off and its driving me nuts!!
