Are expensive HDMI cables worth it?

If you are not satisfied with the HDMI cable that ships with your Sky HD+ box and firmly believe that a more expensive cable will yield better results, feel free to spend more but at least take a look at this first:

hdmi is digital... 0's and 1's. The siganl either gets there or it doesn't. The good thing about hdmi is error correction..... so if the signal sent isnt correctly received then it is re-requested.

As such, there shouldn't be any real difference in which cable you use (when comparing cables of the same hdmi standards).

Toward the end of the video/interview, the guy from Future Shop, when being pressed on the issue of quality makes all the right body language to suggest he isn`t telling the truth. notice how he looks away to the left, amongst other gestures when he says, "There is a difference that we notice and we trust." Not conclusive that he isn`t telling the truth but when you put it all together, it gives you a much bigger picture.

Re: Are expensive HDMI cables worth it?

I bought an HDMI cable from my local shop and that produces the same quality pictures and sound as one I foolishly paid 20 for. This is digital technology so forget all the problems that existed with analogue cables. Don't pay more than 5 for an HDMI cable and if you can buy one for 3 it's going to be OK.

Re: Are expensive HDMI cables worth it?

I bought a 1 metre Monster cable when I bought my first flat screen TV at Comet, the salesman assured me that I would double the picture quality with it. Needless to say that I didn't. I now use cheap, custom made HDMI cables for my home cinema set up. To any one who then tells you he's got a gold plated Blah-Blah cable costing 200 per inch, tell him to go to:- theemperorsnewclothes.com

Re: Are expensive HDMI cables worth it?

It's 1's and 0's so a HDMI cable will either work or not. Picture quality will not differ based on the cable. I buy cheapy ones from Asda or Sainsburys!
