Cancel Sky and become new customer?

If I cancel my Sky subscription, how long I would need to wait before I can re-subscribe as a new customer? I'm guessing it's going to be 12 months min?

I hate companies which discriminate between new and existing customers. I'd like to beat them at their own game by cancelling my contract and using all their equipment to watch free-to-air channels until they classify me as a "new" customer. Then, when Sky are running one of their special deals, I'll re-subscribe on an HD package and get new equipment installed at new customer prices.

Any problems with doing this? The only major sacrifice for me would be the football and the way things are going for Liverpool right now, I could even live without that . . . at least until next season.

The sky website suggests its 12mths, but i can't find where i saw it before.

You may want to look at the info on 'Returning to Sky'

Sign up in your girlfriends name at the same house and your now a new customer, just make sure you use a different bank account. For all sky know, the house is rented and she is new tenant.

Well I'm sure it's 12mths. I did find it a couple of weeks back, but I've had a search and cant find it again.

The difference between the new and existing customer offers is only 30 at the mo.... i think that;s quite reasonable as new customer generate new income so will always get a better deal until churn becomes a problem for Sky.
