help - cabling for multiple box distribution
electrician recently rewired my house got 4 coax wires into living room from under stairs into loft where there are rest of other coaxes from rest of rooms i want tv inalso feeds from dish will come in via here . I am led to beleive i can put a old sky box or 2 in there to supply kids room(s) with freeview with no set up costs ?. I have just purchased a 8 way distribution amp to place under the stairs to supply rest of rooms, sky plus in living room and maybe 1 bedroom i also purchased a magic eye for this purpose. what seemed simple (and probably is once you have done it) now poses questions. what feed will supply old sky box, can i have more than 1.Do i need to use the 4 wires in my living room. If you can understand this a simple diagram would help.
thank you

Re: help - cabling for multiple box distribution
Welcome,
Freeview is terrestrial, Freesat from Sky comes via satellite.
Each Sky box has to be connected to your Sky dish with one or two (in the case of Sky+) coax feeds.
The LNB on your dish needs to be a quad or octal one depending on your requirements.
You can however distribute Sky via a distribution amplifier by using the RF2 output from your Sky box. If you want to use a magic eye system then the amp must have a DC passthrough.
Some diagrams are shown on the TV-Link site

Hope this helps.
