How to change the default region
Can anyone tell me how I can change the default region on my digibox? I am intending to move in the near future and I can't find anywhere to change the regions that 101 & 103 default to. I know that all the regions are included in the high 900 channels but it is very inconvenient when channel hopping.
I'm sure there has to be a way to do it!

Re: How to change the default region
I may be completely wrong here
I always understood that the regional programs you received was based on the postcode you gave to sky when they activate your viewing card.
So when you move your card should be reactivated to receive your new local programs.
One of the main reasons I has sky installed many years ago was because I missed the scottish football shows and matches and the salesman told me (quite wrongly) that I could receive BBC Scotland and "oh yes sir, all the BBC Scotland programming will be available to you". I can receive BBC Scotland obviously but not encrypted regional only programs (international matches etc). I presume if I had a free-to-view card registered to a scottish postcode this would circumvent this but I have never got around to trying it.

Re: How to change the default region
I think with BBC Scotland and football matches they are encryped by BBC Scotland do not have the rights to show the matches anywhere alse apart from Scotland. All other programs you should be able to access OK.

Re: How to change the default region
That was my point. Leaving aside the misselling by the salesperson.
But if I obtained a sky viewing card from a scottish address (waves at Mum and Dad) then I should be able to access the "scotland only" broadcasts.
What I am unsure about is how I would pair it with my box or if that would even be necessary.
If I buy a free-to-air card then I am sure there would be no legal reason why I could not use it.
Sorry to Regord for taking it OT

Re: How to change the default region
That's OK Rick. Thanks for the response. I didn't realise the region was encoded into the viewing card and I guess there are legal reasons for doing that (albeit easily circumvented as in your previous post).
However the program is still there but in a different location. All I will want is the regional news to be local on the default channel. Wouldn't it be nice if the sky box allowed you to rearrange the channel order (as with TVs etc) to whatever you want instead of the somewhat unwieldly blue button system.
I'm also not comfortable with the idea of card pairing with the digibox. Why shouldn't I be able to go buy a second box from ebay for another room and and use my card in either depending on which room I'm in at the time eg lounge or bedroom? It's not multiroom as such, more vari-room and I'm only viewing on 1 box at a time. I've not seen anything in the T's & C's that say you can't do that so how can Sky justify the pairing restriction?
Anyway, winge over. I would be interested in other opinions

Re: How to change the default region
i didn't think you had to pair with normal boxes, only sky + and HD

Re: How to change the default region
I bought a 2nd hand box from ebay not long ago to replace my broken original one. On some channels I get the message "this is not the card for this box, please call 0870 ....."* I have never done so yet as the channels it refers to are all ones I do not subscribe to so I think the box must have some kind of memory to do with the card.
I can view all my channels without a problem so I have just never bothered.
*can't remember the exact message but that is the general idea*
