New Sky Sports package and loss of discounts

A heads up for anyone on a discounted deal including Sports.
I've had a discounted deal of 60% off TV Packs which is due to end 30th October. Just noticed that my final (October) bill is much higher than expected.
Having drilled down it appears that Sky billing system has switched me onto the "new" Sky Sports packs, decided that I've made the change! so removed my discount (on Sports only) for the last ~ 2 months of the 12 month deal!!! Trying to explain this to Customer Support is like swimming in treacle and still not resolved.

      There's always a catch isn't there?!

All in keeping with the usual Sky mission statement: "never apologise, never explain"

I have an identical problem. More to the point why doesn't Sky comply with the DD rules and tell me when they intend to take a payment!

This doesn't happen unless an advisor accessed your account before the end of your offer, so if you called Sky 2 months early, technically you caused it!

      I'm only half-joking .

If there was more than 2 months left then they could raise a CRF and get it fixed but for less than 2 months the advisors should just apply (or get their managers to apply) corrective credit(s).

It's caused by "product unbundling" being applied incorrectly to your account. Since early August 2017 TV discounts now just apply to basic TV, then you have Sports and Movies on top.

In the past this wasn't the case and the discount was against (almost) all TV products [Not Multiscreen, old-HD Mix, or e.g. MUTV].

People on long discounts with long periods to go are automatically transferred to an equivalent discount under the new system, unfortunately for people with just a month or two left this won't happen.

It's technically advisor error for not spotting this when they talked to you.

      Hope this helps someone.
