Cancel in order to get the good deal

Hi, my first post so apologies if I break any protocols.

I've been a Sky TV customer for more years than I care to remember and have recently been thinking about getting Q. It's all very expensive though. So I found out that a guy I work with has a brother at Sky who has a friends and family discount that I could use but only as a new customer. I was advised to cancel and then sign up again in my wife's name. I've just called to cancel to be told that I am still under contract until March 2017 which is a pain. I discussed my options and it seems if I strip out all the extras to my package it is only 18.50 per month, the saving with the f&f deal is over 40 per month so still worth it.

I guess my question is that if I continue with my current contract - as I have to as cannot be cancelled - will I be able to get Sky Q installed at the same location? Would that cause issues do you think?

There are users on the forum who have cancelled and used their partners name to rejoin as new customers at the same address.

Re: Cancel in order to get the good deal

As Tom has stated yes this does work.

There are a couple of drawbacks now though. If you've purchased any Buy & Keep items, then you will lose them. If you have any legacy packs, such as the F1 channel, you'll lose those too.

On the positive side, Sky recently changed the Sky Movies to Sky Cinema. Recently they also change the pricing and made HD standard for Sky Cinema. In my case I have the legacy HD pack. If I get ride of this, I'll save myself some money, but lose the F1 legacy pack.

Swings and roundabouts on this one at the moment!

You can only have one account active per address where Q is concerned.
