I don't mind, as you say all useful info.
I wasn't aware that having a Sky 'line' was not recommended. In our rental I moved the line to Sky so presume when we move out, the new tennants will have a great deal of fun! Oops!
Given that we will own our new place, I might just be tempted to go the full distance again and use Sky for the line. Accepting any problems that may arise before/when leaving them.
We don't use the phone at all so not having Caller ID wouldn't be a major problem, but if it's going to cost more to be with BT then I might aswell just move.
Noone seems to have answered my underlying original Q though, would I get a better deal as a new customer? or shall I just move my account?
By taking out a new account will I have to wait longer for the line to be 'sorted'...

Re: I'm moving house: Shall I Rejoin or Transfer?
in the past some people have been very unhappy with the way the transfer department has worked.
My brother when he moved was unable to get through to them and they would never phone back so he just cancelled the whole lot and started again when he moved.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: I'm moving house: Shall I Rejoin or Transfer?
It shouldn't make any difference in terms of time if the existing line at the new house is with TalkTalk. The way I understand it works is like this:
1. Sky Talk requires a working BT line, so BT have to take the line back from TalkTalk. The reconnection fee is £125 *.
2. You either transfer your line to Sky on their voice network, or keep your BT line and pay Sky for calls.
3. Sky Broadband takes 10-20 days to provision. It's probably quicker to do if you *don't* move to Sky Line Rental, as they can then start the process as soon as the line is back with BT.
If you take Sky Line Rental they will almost certainly transfer you to their voice network, so moving broadband in the future would be a pain and mean paying BT to take over the line again.
* You may be able to persuade BT or Sky to pay this if you take a calls package - even though you don't make calls it could be cheaper to have a package of some kind. BT's latest offers tie you in for 12-18 months, but that may be ok as you will also be on a 12 month contract with Sky BB. I'm not up to date with all the current offers but it could be cheaper to get BT to waive the £125 connection fee and pay the extra £5 for broadband from Sky for 12 months. After that you should be able to look at current deals and go from there.

Many thanks Mr Spouse, I figure it's a case of getting the keys. Speaking with BT & Sky to see who'll bend over further, then going from there.
Can't do much til we get the keys I guess.

Took the plunge on a new order. For some reason its £2 cheaper a month with 1 more entertainment pack... Line, TV and BB...
No major deals, but free install, free box, free line connection.
They wanted to charge £65 for the engineer and £39 to reconnect the line if I moved.
I've an unofficial 1Tb HD box to either get rid of, or utilise some how.
