      Sky Customer Services from hell.

Okay, so with the recent Sky+ HD box for 49 offer, my family decided to go for it.

Since we already have multiroom, we didn't think we should have to pay the 30 installation charge. After a phone call to Sky customer services to register for the offer this was agreed, and a note would apparently be placed on our account for this.

After a week or 2 we get an e-mail saying we can now order. (The website seemed to be having trouble so we decided to call.) During the call we were told we'd have to pay 30 for installation to replace our current Sky+ box with a Sky+ HD box, and move the Sky+ to replace our standard box. When they looked on our account they found no note regarding this.

A complaint has now been sent to Sky about this.
Anyone think it is right to make current multiroom subscribers pay for installation? Opinions?

Also, does anyone know if Sky record telephone conversations? And if they do, they would be legally requiured to provide this upon request wouldn't they due to the Data Protection Act?

Tell them that you want to invoke your legal right for a Subject Access Request. By law they have to provide any data that is held on your record including any phone call recordings.

Under law, they can charge for a SAR (about 10).

I'll admit, the price isn't really what's unfair.
What I have a problem with is how its being charged.

If I buy a subscription, I expect to get the same as new people buying the same subscription. If buy a subscription to a music service I expect to pay the same prices for songs that people buying the subscription now do.

If your "multiroom" box was a standard one and you want the full use of your + box in your 2nd room then the installer will still need to run a new cable.

I agree though if you were told that there would be no charge then that is what it should be

If everyone else has to pay I don't see why you should be a special case, but I do agree the deal should be the same for existing customers as newcomers.

Same thing happened to me, asked the halfwits three times what I've got to pay, no installation charge just 49:00 plus 9:75 a month for the HD service, only to be told later in the registration process that I will be charged the 30:00 installation. So told them to stick the HD Box. Will now be finishing with Sky when my contract with them is up in eight months time, For a 30:00 installation charge they will be losing 720:00 per year.

I don't think I should be a special case. I dislike it when what's been said before seemingly is changed.
All I did was check to see if I got the same discount as those who are taking multiroom newly (I was told I would) then when I come to actually place the order fully that decision seemed to have changed by itself.

Do you think that Sky will care about the loss of 720.00 per year? The 49.00 + 30 installation is a steal, but if you want to cut off your nose to spite your face, carry on

See there it is again... Sky and care in the same sentence... a rare sight to behold.
