I have no issues with the sky increase, my inflation quip was a light hearted comment.
Actually with offers and negotiation over the last decade my sky over the years has stayed pretty constant despite the increases YOY, and many of those years has actually cost me less, like the last three.
But like most I love hunting out a good bargain and your a fool if you just pay top whack for anything these days and do not negotiate or work out a better deal.
This is the time of year when all our renewal bills drop through the door and for the first time for just under a decade our council tax has increased, but only by 80p a month. But both our water bills have gone down by 7% (not metered) and our insurances all were less than last year with loyalty and negotiation discounts.
Mind we will see in the summer when my sky yearly negotiation happens, having decided we do not want sky q, will stick with adsl and may take a bit of nowtv, as this new nowtv box looks good
I didn't "bash" Murdoch in that post AFAICT.

I said he made a big gamble (which lots of commentators at the time said was crazy! [there a references online - very easy to find]) but he (and all his companies have) used the profits from their "low brow" content to make "high brow" content which "snobs" (like me) view most of the time.
Please note the views and recommendations in my posts are my own and in no way reflect the views of Sky

Sorry, wasn't aware of that, so apologies!

Perhaps a useful reminder to any other interested viewers though.

I have the variety bundle and have received an email from Sky today to say from June there will be an increase of 2 making it 32.
Could have downgraded to lesser bundle but my Grandchildren like the Children's channels so looks like I will have to pay the extra.

If you're out of contract give sky a call, may not be much but you might be able to get some kind of deal.

Managed to get my granddad 20% off his bill and myself 50% off (although I'm an on/off subscriber).

If you don't get a good deal, only way to save more will be to leave for a few months and then resubscribe when they contact you with some kind of deal.

      edit:

Just realised I responded to an old post, but my advice remains the same.
