So the Sky Sports Mix channels are coming later this year. I say channels as I presume that there will be an SD and an HD version the HD version being available to anyone with the family pack.

On the subject of HD I see that movies will be available in HD with or without an HD subscription so I guess there will be a lot of none sports subscribers calling to cancel their HD subscription.

I'm assuming that original and variety pack customers who take movies will be in the absurd position where they can watch Sky Movies in HD but Film4 will only be viewable in SD.

Would seem so. This help page answers the question "Will Sky Sports Mix be available in HD?" with "Yes, if you have a HD subscription".

They will be calling it the Sky Sports HD pack from 1 June 2016. I'm sure they could (and maybe will?!) remove it automagically for Movies without Sports subscribers. If they really wanted to be customer friendly of course!

Yes, odd that movies is now available without a hd sub. Really time they just scrap the HD sub altogether.
The hd pack will be renamed to Sky Sports HD Pack from 1 June, as movies is not part of it anymore.
You can still add hd to the variety pack and that goes up 0.75p to 6, but still keeps F1 for those that do not want to sub to the whole of sky sports.

Re: Possible changes for August/September this year

This is getting confusing (to some of us anyway!)
So the new Sports Mix - say you mainly want it for one sport, e.g. golf. Will that cut it? Or will it be so selective that it'll be too frustrating?
      Cheers

It's a teaser channel. I expect that if golf is shown it will just be day 1 and day 2 to tempt you to fully subscribe for day 3/4.

Premiership will be the poorer games etc etc.

They've done that a few times in the past IIRC. Put a day or so of golf on Sky 1

Even the Premiere League feels bad. You hardly see Manchester United/Arsenal/Chelsea on Sky most of the time. It is always the lesser teams and a lot of the Premiership teams. Most of the top teams I see are on the BT channels. Yet Sky has the Premiere League rights.

Re: Possible changes for August/September this year

Sky used all their 'first picks' in the opening part of the season leaving BT to get the picks for the latter part.

Not sure what the run in looks like.

I guess sky took that approach to make the prem league look better on sky at the start of the season to lure people in.

I'm so close to ditching SS (again).
