      Not sure if it is related but noticed this announcement today on sky pages, possible changes to packages needing to be amended or educated;

Restricted service in our Contact Centres 13-16 June
From 7am on Thursday 13 June to 11pm on Sunday 16 June, we'll be upgrading our systems so we can help our customers even more quickly in the future.
While this is happening, it's likely you'll have to wait longer for an advisor to become available if you call us about your Sky account.

      This is something totally unrelated.

Sky are simply updating their computer software. This would have been planned some time back.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Re: Sky may drop the price of broadband products

On Digital Spy and the AV Forums, there are a number of Sky Broadband Unlimited excisting customers who say they have had emails offering them Unlimited Broadband at 3.75 for 12 months. I still hav'nt receaved that email.

If I stay with Sky it will cost me 50 activation and I will only get 40Mb/s down.

If I move to Plusnet for FTTC and phone then there is no 50 activation charge and the first 6 months are half price, therefore I will save 110 in the first year.
Plusnet also estimate that I will get 60Mb/s down which is obviously a lot better than 40 Mb/s.

      Both broadband services are unlimited.

The telephone services are similarly priced but Plusnet don't charge for calls to 0845 numbers. I will lose free international calls from Sky. but I dial an international number once in a blue moon.

Unless Sky lower their prices for Fibre Pro or make me a good offer I will be off to Plusnet.
Hmm, last time I looked Plusnet may be "unlimited" but employ traffic shaping, mainly on P2P. I'm too lazy to look up the specifics right now and its buried in the T&C's, they don't exactly advertise it.

Yes Ive seen that and also someone on Digitalspy said they had that email.

It was not just offering half price sky broadband unlimited for the year but also 50% off
superfast Sky Fibre Unlimited for a whole year, so 10.
They also said they get a free hub and no 50 connection fee

That is quite an amazing offer, if true.
