According to other posts on this Sky World is being given at half price to new customers but existing customers must still pay 10.25.

This seems unfair - if true - in effect all those who have paid Sky thousands of pounds since day one of HD, including maybe paying the HD sub twice on multiroom for years, effectively being used to subsidise all those who refused to pay those sort of prices.

I got a letter HD-TV just 2.50 extra a month for 12 months offer, and in the small print it says "Entertainment/Entertainment Extra SD customers will have access to box sets on demand until May 2013.

Hmm, I wonder whether access to box sets on demand will eventually be a separate charge/revenue stream for those without an HD pack?

Rereading the rumours and also the blog which a1dutch posted the link to, I think it is safe to say the you will need the new Extra+ Pack in order to download the Box Sets.

Introducing a new TV pack to help even more customers enjoy TV in high-definition
...the pack will also offer customers access to a wide range of TV box sets on demand, both on the Sky+HD box and through the award-winning Sky Go. Box sets that customers will be able to enjoy at home...

Re: Price & package changes coming soon

But what happens after May 2013? I wonder if it will then become another chargeable add-on?

And when the EE+ pack is launched (end of April?), will Entertainment pack lose access to box set downloads?

Is it just me or sometimes does it seem that you have to read between the lines to work out all the pros and cons and get the full picture?! (OK maybe it's just me then...)

Certainly until the proper announcement is made we are a little blind. However the picture is coming together now.

Why can't sky bring in sport packages only without have to add on annoyed Entertainment pack for a change!

When there were six packages it was possible to downgrade from entertainment plus sports package to just sports. It was never advertised but the programme advisory team did have that option.

For a saving of one pound per month which was the cost of individual packages at that time you could keep all the sports channels without Sky One, the recently introduced Sky Atlantic and all the other entertainment subscription channels.

Re: Price & package changes coming soon

I've been a Sky subscriber for five years now,but have only just read this interesting thread re HD.Its about time Sky offered a bigger carrot to dangle in front of people like me who think its rivals are offering a better service. We would have had HD a long time ago,but an extra tenner on the monthly bill is a lot for us.At least coming down a fiver means we can now think seriously about it.
And another no-no is the 60 call out.If VM dont have it,why do Sky?
      Regards.

Certainly this change will make things more competitive to VM. It is due to change around 9th April, so not long to wait now.

As for why Sky charges 65 (sorry, no 60) for a call-out and VM don't, I can only guess it is because with VM, they own the STB/s, whereas with Sky you own the dish and the STB/s.
