      Seding log emails from router?

Hello, although the connection may drop out, one thing that I do like about the Netrgear router is that it can send me emails of the logs.

I have it setup to send to me at my @gmail.com email address, using the
      outgoing mail server = smtp.googlemail.com
I have added my username & password for authentification.

Yet when I try & use the "send log" button from the logs screen, it does not work.

Instead the log is cleared & replaced with:
      Thu, 2007-03-08 18:46:45 - unexpected reply: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first r34sm5699634nfc
Can anyone throw some light on this subject please, as this & the statistics are the only features that make me want to keep using this router.

      Cheers,
      Matty

Re: Seding log emails from router?

      Just found this:

5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command firs

This error may come up if SMTP server that you're sending through has email sending restrictions. Sometimes, mail servers are configured to e.g. only allow emails from common email clients (outlook, etc.) and block any email sending requests coming from other programs. You should try a different SMTP server.
Apparently it could also be that your mail server expects an encrypted connection.

Shouldn't the outgoing server be: smtp.sky.com anyway ??

Re: Seding log emails from router?

Just tried this myself and it worked!!

I used smtp.sky.com as the outgoing server, and my Sky username and password and sent the log to my gmail adress.

Re: Seding log emails from router?

That's a good point, I'll try sky's servers (if I ever put the router backon :-)
But I should be able to use the googlemail one for collection of my mail from my gmail account so I thought I could also use it to send.

      Thank you for your advice.

Re: Seding log emails from router?

      Hi.

I still get this message even though I have entered the Sky email settings that I use in Outlook Express and the OE email works fine.

Settings are as below. I've tried smtp.sky.com and left the secure server box unchecked and its still the same.

      Can anyone help?
