Wireless works fine, but ethernet on both computers doesn't!

I recently got activated today on Sky BB Max. I plugged the netgear router in and used the supplied network key to connect wirelessly from my laptop. Everything works fine using that. I can login to the router and change settings and that.

However, if I plug my laptop in via ethernet or my desktop via ethernet I cannot access the internet. The lights for ports 1 and 2 on the router light up and the Local Area Connection symbol appears and shows connected on both computers. But, still no internet and both computers cannot see the router either when I attempt to open 192.168.0.1.

Before joining Sky I was on Plusnet using a US Robotics router. Everything worked 100% and this morning when swapping to the Netgear I only changed the power cable. All the other cables are the same, ethernet and adsl cable.

This problem is really annoying me. Can anyone help?

Re: Wireless works fine, but ethernet on both computers doesn't!

I've just realised that I had static IPs set up for my old router 192.168.1.1 so by changing it to 192.168.0.1 or selecting obtain IP automatically it fixed it. Can't believe that was the only problem. been bugging me all day!
