      Sky Router DG834GT v Netgear DG834N

      Hi
I should be activated on sky on Monday 5th of March, router arrived 27th of Feb. At the moment I use the Netgear DG834N which I can not fault at the moment the range and wireless conection throughput are second to none.(had it since the first week it was released in the UK). I plan to carry on using it on sky have also used the DG834GT and both have an identical interface. My question is can sky actually update firmeware automaticaly with out you knowing, if they can then I am sceared that the firmware will be updated with the DG834GT's firmware.

They won't be able to update the one you purchased yourself (how big brother would that be!!!) but they are able to update the one they supply you through some dodgy-ass backdoor that they don't make known.

Some helpdesk person blatted my settings on mine today and set it all back to default, wiping firewall rules, SSID, MAC locks, log settings etc etc. I only phoned to find out what was going on with my exchange being down and they end up causing me yet more hassle.

I really am rather cheesed off!!

Thanks for the reassurance, and sorry about your settings. It scares me to think what sort of people they have working on their help desk, I'm no genius but even I can not beleive some of the answers they give to some of the users on this site, some of thet answers should be used on a comic strip
