A Strange Question To You All??

OK, during early evening (some of you may remember my previous disconnection problems from before), I swera that when the kids are up next door using the internet (I dont know their who ISP is) till they go to sleep, I just can't seem to connect to the internet, after every reboot, it connects for a minute maybe more, but then BAM, 'i' light goes out. I may be getting paranoid here but when they are at school during the day, this problem (while still present) not so bad. They (next doors kids) are asleep now and I've been connected for 30 mins now, the longest since around 5pm. Also the other day, I could have swore that I saw some kind of message to with a 'another ISP' and the 'line', it was so brief I didn't catch it properly (in the tray lower right of screen where the 'M' for mcafee resides.)

Can anyone shed some light as to whats goin on here? I'm waiting for a tier3 call back in next few days, but surfings just a nightmare at the mo. My missus has actually moved out to her mums so she can do her coursework probably (about the only good thing to come out of this! . . .kidding**)

is it me, am i being paranoid??

      So . . . . anyone??

      Hiya,

First off how are you connecting? Via wireless of ethernet.

If it's wireless, you could find that you are getting interferance from next door if they are using a conflicting channel.

Best thing to do to test this is to try a different channel in the router setup.
It comes as default as channel 11, try 6 or 1 to see if that helps at all.

If it Ethernet, hmmm dunnow really.

I have since deiscovered that the router stops the connection after 30 mins of switching on - and after that, after 10-15 secs subsequently, more or less instantaneous. My router is probably screwed up. Still waitng for Tier3 to get back to me. Been ages now, not happy! Better go - this reply is probably all I have time to do!

Was turned off ages ago! No dice,
Here's a theory, since I get half hour out of it at the start of day when I turn it on, after that it turns itself off after a few seconds after every reboot, maybe a component or something in the router heats up and knackers the connection. I say this because if left for a few hours, I manage to get that 30mins use at the start again.

      Plausible?

To help with the heat, have you tried standing the router on the attachable feet?

Mine has been like that since day one.
