      Please Help

      Hi

Have just got broadband but can't install it, not very technical, so please speak in English!

The wireless keeps saying acquiring nextwork address and going off and on.

I am debating calling sky and asking for an enginner to attend but don't know if they will now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a bit late and most of the experts are more than likely down the pub .....

At least you are in the right place and there are some great forum entries regarding wireless set up, etc etc

Have a read of these tonight, may be a silly question but has your account been activated ???

      Re: Please Help

Well I have had an e-mail so does that mean it has been activated?

I have read loads and tried to do what they say but doesn'w ant to know.

It keeps saying aquiring network address, then automatic and going off and on.

I am currently connected through Internet Gateway whatever that may be!

      Re: Please Help

All I can suggest is that you have a browse through the forums and look for "Router Set Up".

I am sure you will have lots of answers by the morning, calling Sky TS tonight may not be very productive.

      Re: Please Help

I had a similar problem whereby my Internet Gateway would freeze and solved that by switching off the UPnP. I would check it offline but as my connection has been stable I don't want to switch it off.

Check out the Tutorials for Router and Wireless Set Up. Not sure if you can access the Netgear Router homepage if you are offline.

      Anyone else assist ???

      Re: Please Help

Try accessing the router menu 192.168.00 or .01 I think with the ethernet cable plugged in that will verify you have a valid connection to to router, If you cant get to the router menu then it could be a setting in explorer, Go to tools, Internet options then connections, ensure "Never Dial a Connection" is ticked then go into the LAN settings box and check that "Automatically Detect Setting" Is clicked.

Automatically detect setting should not be selected.
