      Unhappy Not sure of settings...

      May I start by saying that I am NOT trying to configure the router sent to me by Sky. It is in fact exactly the same router however it is the one sent by AOL.

      I am assuming that as the model is the same it is theoretically possible to connect through this router? Please correct me if I am wrong.

      Our line to the Sky service was activated last week and at the moment my wireless adapter has an excellent connection to the Netgear router, however, there is no connection to the internet wireless or otherwise.

      The internet light on the router however is green.

      I have been through the setup wizard on the router screen but to no avail. I am as unconnected as ever.

      I have looked at the tutorials available but none seem to be of any use.

      My computer (running Windows Vista) informs me that the problem may have something to do with DNS settings.

      Can anybody help?


      P.S. This will be a temporary fix until Sky send a router that isn't broken/

      Hi

      To use your own router, you would need to retrieve the details from your Sky router.

      Just in case you are unaware, it is against the Terms and Conditions of Sky Broadband to not use their router.

      However all the information you require is in the technical forum.

      Thanks for your help, unfortunately since the only Sky router I am in possession of rattles, it is impossible for me to get to the setup screen and I shall wait patiently for the new one to arrive (if they have put the order in for one as they told us this time!!!).

      Thank you for the info, if anything I will not waste hours on end trying to get the darned thing to work now.
