I think the router will be auto updated with new firmware in the same way that sky update the software on the sky boxes.

Why would you even want one?

I do not even know why sky want to provide people with custom gear, why not just let the customer supply their own like most other suppliers!

Probabaly bit of a sales pitch "Free Wireless Router Included" but in there infiniate wisdom the they have locked the software down to try to stop people dabbling!! Quite clever when you think about it, means the routers are competely interchangeable, no setting up required and probably saved themselves hundreds of phone calls from less computer literate people trying to set there routers up.

But the money they save in phone calls they spend on routers???

And let's not forget they actually make money on each call they receive?

Ohhh and just to add what about all the additional costs in replacing faulty units as well as p&p!

Seems stupid to me, they do all that and people still give them a bad name from what I read on here!

Well you probably dont hear from people on here who are sailing along with no problems whatsoever! Of which I know quite a few. Must admit I did have some problems but with a bit of time and patiance all seems well now, ish. But for 5 a month compared with what I was paying BT I am still as happy as a sandboy!

      Smile Re: Firmware Upgrade

      Hi there !
I've heard also about this rumour saying that sky would go with sagem for the next-gen wireless router. Let me share with you my feeling re this : this is an excellent news. Why that ? Just because sagem is a company dedicated to this kind of service provider project by supplying state of the art devices, reliable and with cutting-edge technos. I inquired a lil bit more about sagem. OK apart from the mobiles and the terrestrial decoders, their ADSL devices business unit is having a great success all over europe through significant deals won. Maybe I am a lil bit too conservative with a preference for european suppliers - it's because I'm just fed up with the chinese or tawainese sheet we are used to get
Knowing sky, I am pretty confident in this future router. So I'm ready to bet on the sky-sagem solution ! I can't hardly wait !!!
