      Connection Status

When I double click the "Connection Status" icon in my task bar, under "Activity" it tells me how many packets I have sent or received. I am used to this telling me how many bytes I have sent or received instead, so I know how much I've downloaded. Is there any way to change this?

You cant make it show how much you have downlaoded, but there third party software you can get that will tell you this information

Ah. Well that's going to be a miss. All my previous ISP connections had it. But this is my first that uses a router.

      Re: Connection Status

A packet can be up to 1500 bytes as ethernet can only handle an MTU size of 1500.

So you could find out the maximum you may of used.

      Re: Connection Status

Being very pedantic (sorry) the maximum ethernet payload (data field) is 1500 bytes which makes a 1518 byte ethernet packet including header and CRC. When 802.1q added an optional 4-byte VLAN Tag Header, they extended the allowed maximum frame size to 1522 bytes (22 byte header+CRC).
