      Re: Update Router Driver?

Definitely not, the firmware for the Sky router is a custom one. You will lose all the original intended functionality of your router and would have to enter your username and password.

Drivers are nothing to do with the Sky router, perhaps they mean't your network card drivers?

      Re: Update Router Driver?

Do you mean drivers, like ATI Drivers, or firmware, which is what you can download from Netgears site.

If you download new firmware, your router will lose its configuration and will need work on your side to get back up and running again.

What kind of problems are you having that would require a firmware upgrade? Hopefully you can find all of the help you need here.

Just noticed a similar query to your's....

      Converting Router to Netgear Original

If you look at that, it may help you.

      Re: Update Router Driver?

thing is im trying to improve my Ping rate..as i play a lot of online gaming.
I am on another site which helps tweak your ADSL..and after doing a traceroute...its showing my 2nd hop is bit off..

      Trace complete.

Now the tech guy off this site who is well up on these matters gave this conclusion.

Ping times at your modem in hop 2 are rather high (71-73ms). Either you are not using the latest firmware for your modem or you have placed your modem too close to some other electrical devices that are emitting electrical interference affecting the modem.

I have moved the router and still same on hop 2..
Thus i need to update drivers......to see if this cures it...
Im no expert im just trying to get my pings down...

      Re: Update Router Driver?

Aah, now I see what you're asking.

As NewsreadeR says, this will effectively make your router a non-Sky one. As it's not approved by Sky (may even contradict the T & C's) I'd rather not go any further. Keep my nose clean, and all that.

It is straighforward though, the post below tells you how to do it:-

      Flashing the router

Hope it helps you get the info you need.
