      Question 1st router reboot, can't log in on Netgear now?

      i've had mid connected for a week now & no problems until this morning. it just wouldn't connect & i couldn't get any web pages to load. tried everything i could think of - turned off firewall, spyware etc - nothing made any difference. i checked the info on netgear & the connection & all the stats seemed as normal. only thing for it, reboot the router.

      back on the net now, obviously , but i just can't log back into netgear page 192.196 etc. i thought it might have defaulted to admin & sky for access, but nothing will work. it just won't let me log in.

      i'm sure this is something simple! MTIA

      Unless someone else changed your password lol. Try a factory reset on the back of the router (pin or something tiny in hole at back of the router) and then all settings will revert and then it will be sky and admin. The only other problem that can arise if is the connection is lost after reboot and the message 'another administrator is logged in '(or similar) comes up when it is then simpler just to reboot the pc. And always remember to log out of the router at the end of each session.

      thanks for the suggestions, but i still can't log in!

      i've rebooted my pc & reset the router from the the back...

      tried admin/sky & the user/password i set it to before, nothing.

      on the log in box it does say "Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection)." now, this might have been there all the time, but i can't say i've noticed it.

      That is a very odd message that I have never seen and suggests router may have possibly lost the internal password? One for the experts here, sorry.

      you are trying 192.168.0.1 ?

      what about admin/admin and admin/password if admin/sky or your chosen one's aren't working.

      are you connected to the router via cable or wireless?

      If wireless, try cable.

      connected by cable & after i've tried what i'm sure i set it to, i've tried all the different combinations of caps on & off...
