    Should I be capped or not

    This is a discussion on Should I be capped or not within the Sky Router forums, part of the Sky Broadband help category; Was originally around 14.5 mb...Been capped to around 12.5mb by sky as they say my line is not stable..tier 3 ...

      Should I be capped or not

      Was originally around 14.5 mb...Been capped to around 12.5mb by sky as they say my line is not stable..tier 3 wanted to cut it back to 8mb..figures below any info appreciated..thanks in advance..

      Your line errors are borderline high.

      If you find no problems with errors at this level then that's good but personally, I wouldn't recommend asking to go uncapped as I suspect you'd start to see problems and in any case see no benefit to download speed due to errors and retransmissions.

      Thanks for the quick reply Saturday..So anything I can do about it to improve the line errors or is that out of my control?..and out of interest could you please post the info that relates to the line errors in my figures...thanks

      You haven't described your set up so it's not possible to offer specific advice on how you could improve it. But in general, never connect your router via an extension and fit a replacement faceplate to your master socket would be a good starting point.

      Your errors aren't too bad as I said earlier. The ones to concern yourself with are CRC (they are getting close to what I would consider an unacceptable level), errored seconds (ditto), loss of signal (too high) and seriously errored seconds (worryingly high as a ratio to your errored seconds). However, that's just my opinion. Sky may feel differently.

      BTW. Moving from Fast to Interleaved would probably make a big dent in those errors.

      Thanks for the info and suggestions Saturday...seems to be running ok but only time will tell..routers straight out the old master socket..a new type wouldnt hurt though ..
