      Question netmeeting problems

I am unable to recieve calls in netmeeting but have no problem calling from my computer. I have had the guys at Netgear try to set up my router but still no joy, they are putting it down to Sky. When I attach my old cable modem I can use netmeeting ok. I have no problems with any other chat/video programs. I would be grateful for any help.

      Re: netmeeting problems

The port numbers you need to allow in the router are 1720 and 1503. These need to be put in the 'firewall rules' and 'services' sections of the router config.

So if you attach your old modem now it will work fine, so this narrows it down to the router.

      Re: netmeeting problems

      Hello

I have the same problem as you. Has Netmeeting started working for you ? I tried with NTL and BT Internet dialup and both are okay. In sky it doesn't work. I took some traces using Wireshark program and saw that a particular TCP packet was not ACK'd when connected to Sky. This could be because Either the packet was not delivered to Destination by Sky or the ACK has been blocked by Sky. I have tried this connection with 3 different remote PCs conncetd to different ISPs. Always the trace show the same.

I had posted the issue in this forum elsewhere but noone seems to know what the problem is..

I tried to phone , e-mail Sky, but up until now they are not even willing to take a look at the traces or acknowledge the problem. My PC is in the DMZ.

If your setup is solved, could you plase let me know how you did it ?

      Thanks..

      Re: netmeeting problems

Hi There, I am also having the same problem. When I used my previous ISP(ukonline) netmeeting works without any problems. But when I tried with sky getting some errors in the router log file saying that h.323 match.

If any body wants to setup steps in router here is the url

Port Forwarding for the Netgear FVS318

When I asked sky broadband technical help about the netmeeting. They have advised me to contact Mircosoft because this is their product...ridculous...response. Immediatelly haged up my phone...can't able to speak any more.

      Re: netmeeting problems

Sky DO NOT support any software that uses the net (bar internet explorer IP/DNS settings) - so they're response is not rediculous at all....i've never even attempted to use NetMeeting at any point over the years so no idea how to set it up

it would be contact Microsoft or google a solution...
