      Question Ethernet cable lights

      Hi

I am currently connected by Ethernet cable. This has always been plugged into the 1st ethernet socket on the router & the 'number 1' light has been green. Today when I came in from work, the light was flashing on & off in green & I could not connect. The 3rd ethernet socket is doing the same but number 2 & number 4 work perfectly!!!

Does this mean that something has gone wrong with the sockets in my router? Does anybody know whether the sockets are linked in pairs - ie 1& 3 are linked and 2&4 are linked so if one breaks they both stop working?

      Thanks

Seems to have been resolved by using the trusty reset button!

There could of been a possibility the ethernet card could of caused this problem can't really say for sure. But i am near sure the ports arn't linked and are all individual ports. Or the cause could be the ethernet cable. My advise would be if this happens again go out and purchase another ethernet cable and it it does it again contact ur manufacturer to have someone look at the settings of your ethernet card. Those are options to go by to eliminate the possible cause of the cable or ethernet card being the problem
