Dramatic increase in noise level, at Long Eaton

For about a week having sorted out my extension wiring I've been monitoring my connection with Routerstats.
Normal sync is 8190kbps with a noise margin between 12db in the morning with a worse case of 10 in the evening.(Line attn 45db)
But yesterday and today at around 4.30 pm the noise margin suddenly dropped to about 2.5db causing the link to go down, on reboot the router resyncs around 7db at a rate of 7400kbps.
It can't be my wiring, its like someone has turned on a powerful noise source in the area, or could it be something else........???
If any budding Marconis in Long Eaton are trying out their new spark gap transmitter please cease and desist!

      ha,

it has made me wonder though, as we are now connected!!!!!

it could be something to do with the movement of our tps that could have upset something?

we are getting incredibly crap download speeds of about 30kb/s yet our down rate on the router homepage is 7650kb/s which is what we were expecting!

      just a possibility...

      Thought it might be you!
Stop press my noise margin has just rocketed back up to 12db so I'm going to reboot again and get back to 8190kbps.
Namesco speed test: 6237kbps down and 329kbps up.

PS Glad they got you on line at long last!

how stable is your connection and what download speeds are you getting?

they really are pants here with download speeds of 50kb/s again. At one point it was at 4ookb/s but aint reached it again.

have you used any programs to stablize and increase download speeds?

Re: Dramatic increase in noise level, at Long Eaton

It was pretty stable until a couple of days ago, as per above post.
I was also finding that it did get very slow some evenings but if I rebooted it got faster again, no idea why, the only think I noticed was that the ADSL IP address had changed.
Its definitely at its best in the mornings, less users I suppose.
What noise margin are you getting?
Have you tried the suggested connection improvement procedures like the ones at DSL Zone?DSL ZoneUK - Improve your speed - Extension wiring and Disconnection help

Download speeds very dependent on wher I'm downloading from, just downloaded 'night at the museum trailer' from the Skybb site, at 700kbps.
