It looks like your router has died. Call Sky and they will check it, they will replace it with a wireless G one for £28 or a wireless N for £35. The N is preferred. Some agents will offer a free replacement, but don't count on it. As it is outside the warranty, most will want you to pay.

      Hello ... its been a wile !

I just have one question, is the XTE-2005 professional quality master socket filter > XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation still the best to use ?

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

The latest filtered faceplate to be made available is the on which BTO supply with vDSL (specifically FTTC) connections. This apparently performs a little better for ADSL connections than other microfilters and filtered faceplates.

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

It is the wireless key it is looking for. The default consists of 8 capital letters. If you are using the default make sure you are entering it all in capitals. Some devices use lower case as the default and this can cause problems if you do not change each letter to caps.

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

I had firewall rules set up on my SR101 router to stop certain devices accessing the internet at night.

It worked fine for several months after I rebooted the router. I have typed the rules back in (and reassigned static IP addresses) but the firewall rules don't work.
Any thoughts? Has Sky disabled rules?

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

Everything should work as before. I would be inclined to check what you had before and compare to what you have now, if this is possible.

As a matter of habit now, having been caught out in the past, I always save the .conf file to my computer after I have made any changes. This allows a faster recovery should the router fail, but the files can't be loaded onto a different router.

If you want to load the details onto a different router then use a suitable file editor to allow you to see what you've done and this will help you get it all working as before. The .conf files are sotred in plain text, but with a suitable program they will be displayed is a more friendly manner. MS Word or a programmer's Notepad are good for this.
