OK - after using 'BLOCK by schedule', the Xbox wouldn't sign in at all. I've changed it to ALLOW by schedule and it's signing in, so hopefully now it'll deny access according to the schedule I've set up. If that is indeed the case, then BT now has no advantages over Sky BB!

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

In the process of moving to Sky and want to use my own routers.

Wonder if anyone one knows the VC & Mux setting for Sky?

I am guessing that Sky LLU is PPPoE or am I wrong and it is PPPoA

      Thanks

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

All the information you need to connect a non Sky router are contained in this thread -
Non-Sky Router Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Your main problem will be if you receive a Dlink router. At the moment there is no way to extract the password from these which you need to connect to Sky.

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

I know this is an old thread, but I have a fairly important question - how do you change the username on the Sky router? Admin is stupidly easy to guess. I know you need a strong password, but surely changing the username would also add an extra layer of security?

You can't change the username, you would need to hack the code to do that.

I spent nearly over an hour talking to sky technical support going through the router settings and changing the security encryption from WPA to WEP and using a WEP network key etc. Still no luck, I can keep on getting an error message saying "windows cannot connect to this network".

Please can anybody help me, sky have already said they cannot help me any further, and have advised me to purchase a USB dongle from them, I would however prefer to connect without paying for a USB dongle and losing a USB port to the dongle. The laptop I am using is an Acer 5673WLmi, with a built-in wireless card... WLAN: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network (dual-band tri-mode 802.11 a/b/g).

Any help on this will be much appreciated!
Alright first make sure the wireless light is swicthed ON on the laptop, and check if the drivers are installed and updated. And one main thing is if u have a vista and a sagem com router then u r in small trouble. Try changing the channel to no:11. and if u have already checked with all the security option then the last resort would be disable but if u do that ur network will no longer be secure. And make sure try to change the SSID which sometimes works, and try if this works . keep me posted

Maybe you have a different calender in India, but that post is nearly 5 years old, the laptop has probably been replaced by now

      Re: Sky Router Setup/Configuration

      Good morning and help please

I have an old Sky Netgear router, that i have had for years

      it appears to have died...........

the Wireless is still ok and it connects to my wireless printer ok

      but

I connect to the internet via Ethernet cable but as of last night my internet connection is no more (no problems at all until last night)

i have tried rebooting and resetting the router (both separately and at the same time) and rebooting the computer (running Vista)

      but no joy

is that the end of the line for the router, do i need a new one etc?

      cheers

      Adamski
