Router problem so they say ???

Joined Sky Broadband about a month ago & all worked fine with no probs making internet connection etc.
I then had my hard drive changed out & re-installed broadband via the disc & got to test the connection i got the HHMMMMM problem notice !!!!
Called tech support & did all the tests with them & they have identified this as the router failing as my control panel states that a connection is there..... I'm still waiting for the replacement router to come from them after about 3 weeks !!! They just seem to lose all information about the problem & pass me from dept to dept.

Can anyone offer any solutions to this problem that may be quicker than getting a new box from Sky ????

      Question

You do not need the CD.

As long as the web interface comes up then your PC is setup OK.

Suggest when you get home you post what it does say under the routers "Connection Status"

      ie is it something like;

      Connection Time 331:25:59
      Connecting to Server - Connected
      Negotiation - Success
      Authentication - Success
      Getting IP Addresses - 90.195.XXX.XXX
      Getting Network Mask 255.255.255.255

If it is and you still cannot browse the net, it looks like your router is at fault as the above shows a typical healthy connection.

Unless anyone else has got any ideas??

Are you using a software firewall?

      All firewalls are turned off.

Have you totally re-set the router? Ball-point pen in the re-set switch for 10 seconds?
