      network key problems

      Hi,

I'm just trying to connect wirelessly with my laptop. I've managed to find the router with the wireless adapter, but when I try to connect using the Network Key on the Sky Router I get a message saying your key needs to be 10 or 13 ASCII characters??????

The network key that I'be got is 8 letters.

      Anyone help please?

      Thanks
      Phil

Connect using Ethernet and then login to the router. Once you are in the configuration pages, change the Wireless encryption to whatever you want. I would suggest disabling it initially, just to test the connection. Once you have made a wireless connection, connect again via Ethernet and setup WPA personal encryption using a Key that you have chosen.

OK...managed to get connected to the router, but can't access the internet from the laptop. Connection is shown as excellent but can't figure out how to get IE to connect via the WLAN instead of looking for a dial up connection???

Okay to stop it looking for a dial up connection:

      Click Start
      Select Settings
      Select Control Panel
      Select Internet options
      Click Connections Tab
Click Never Dial A Default Connection
      Then Select Apply

Then you should be up and running.
