      UPnP not working

My Netgear Super Wireless ADSL Router DG834GT with firmware 1.02.28 is not super at all. The damn thing is not replying at all to the UPnP discovery requests. I initially suspected there may be a problem with downloading the UPnP info from the router, but apparently it's not even advertising itself as an UPnP enabled device even though the corresponding box is checked and UPnP according to the router enabled.

I then went to Netgearís site looking for a firmware update and found that the latest firmware available seems to be 1.02.04. There's also a version 1.01.28, so maybe 1.02.28 was a typo? I'm not sure wether Sky Broadband cripples UPnP support intentionally, but it may be possible they do so because of some anti-filesharing policy. Of course the guy in the Philippines didnít know anything and wasnít a great help. Needless to say that Iíve rebooted numerous times before calling him.

I also experience severe drop-outs at times. But the UPnP issue sucks most as I now have to open ports for every service manually. Donít think this is a Mac-specific problem but feel that the UPnP issue might be related to wireless services only. Maybe there's another setting in my router's configuration tool that interferes with UPnP at the moment, maybe something security-related?

Any experiences? Anybody out there who got UPnP to work under wireless? Maybe even on a Macintosh Powerbook?

Thanks. Not sure if I want to temper with the router though. I also donít want to buy another one. My question was whether other folks have experienced the same issues with UPnP over a wireless connection. If Sky has blocked UPnP intentionally, why have the menu item accessible in the router settings?

Its not Sky that have blocked it, a lot of members have given mixed reports, ie it works or it doesn't.

The reason I gave you that link was so you could ask for better technical advice than on the open forum, and there maybe some tricks you would need to use to make it work on a MAC.
