Confused by wireless, I am Help

Right I've got all my equipment and have the internet up and running with that wire thing plugged into my phone socket.
Now i want to go wireless.
      Problems

1/ How do I know if my computer is wireless enabled ?. Is it something built into the motherboard or is it something that plugs into your motherboard? My MB is an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe.

2/ Should there be a wireless thing attached to the computer and the router plugged into the phone line, ie the router could be in another room entirely to the computer.

I know these may sound like totally stupid questions but sky seem to assume that you know this already and nowhere in the instructions does it say what to do.

This is what i use to find out what is on my pc,its a program that shows your hardware drivers etc.

Look to see if your pc has network controller if so be sure you have the latest drivers for it.
The above program will help as it will show whats installed on your pc as well as other usefull tools..

And the great thing is its free..
