      SR102 wireless access point

I have an SR102 router going spare, so thought I would set it up as a wireless access point in an upstairs area where the existing wireless is poor.

Have done this before the old Sky Netgear router without issue, but struggling to get the SR102 to work. Did the usual of disabling DHCP and allocating a fixed IP for the router. But when it reboots it defaults to 169.254.85.71 and Subnet of 255.255.0.0. I believe this is an automatic default setting. Any advice ?

      Thanks
      Andrew

Sounds like you are plugged into the bottom EWAN port, try one of the others.

So you are setting a fixed lan address on the SR102? with DHCP disabled on the 102. May be mothers and eggs, but you haven't set the 102 to the same LAN address as the main router or something else on the network?

Haha, you are right to quote mothers and eggs. No, I had not allocated an IP already in use, but when I set the fixed IP and disabled DHCP, I rebooted the access point without it being connected t the main router on the LAN. ie it was truly stand alone so in the absence of any internet gateway it seems to have been defaulting. Reconfigured it and made sure it was connected to the LAN before reboot and BINGO ! Lets add wood and trees to mother and eggs LoL.

      Thanks for the helpful prompt.
