      Dg834gt - Snr

Any body having problems with intermitent connection due to distance from exchange there is a lil tweak to make your connection a little stabler.

      http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.htm

About half way down the page there is the Netgear DG834GT and the tweak is in there.

I would recommend anyone with any problems reads this site.

      Interesting post.

Sadly (to quote Jose Cardoso) "the Sky branded DG834GT has had its Telnet server password protected as a result of Sky's customisations to the NETGEAR firmware. Any attempt to launch the server using the debug mode ..... is met with a login prompt once you connect your Telnet client to the router. Trying various username/password combinations gets you nowhere." So the tweak won't work.

I believe the forum owners would rather this subject was not discussed here and you may find this thread is closed or deleted but if you join the Tech forum you will find there an explanation and a way round the above issue and be free to discuss to your heart's content Hope to see you there.

BTW: intermittent connections are unlikely to be caused by distance from the exchange (attenuation). The cause is likely to be the signal margin dropping below a usable threshold which is about 5.5db with this router.
