How often should the connection re-connect

      Hi,

I was on NTL cable BB for about 4 or 5 years, never really dropped out too much - IP would only change a few times a year.

But with ADSL, are drop outs to be expected every now and again or should it be a single connection, never really interrupted?

      Many thanks
      Jack

      what are your line stats?

if you have a low noise margin this could cause the frequent drop outs!

I am not really getting frequent drop outs, I was just wondering in general on the reliability/solidness of ADSL compared to Cable.

These are the stats, if they are not good, what should they be?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.0 db 27.5 db
Noise Margin 7.9 db 13.0 db

I am now on Mid package btw, the tech support changed it at 11pm last night, I got a drop out about 3 hours ago, perhaps this was the Mid package kicking in?

The noise margin should be around 12-15db for a good solid connection?

Have you tried changing the filters and if so connection from a master socket!
