      Unhappy FTP issues

      Hi there,

Im having some problems getting my FTP application to work properly on my new SKy Connect service.

Ive added a rule in the firewall to all incoming data on ports 2021. This didnt seem to work so I then set an inbound rule to forward any incoming traffic to 192.168.0.2. This didnt work either.

When i try and connect to the server it seems to initially connect. When i try and upload files it seems to start copying files and then fails are a bit. I get the error message:

Error: Transfer channel can't be opened. Reason: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Anyone any tips as i need to upload a site asap.

      Cheers

      John

ps anyone any suggestions for getting MSN to work.

I have a FTP going to a linkstation that i cant get to work at the moment, not sure if this is the linkstaion or Sky though.
Once i have my server back up and running i will try to FTP to that instead and see if it works.

Ive tried that and still no joy.

Here are the inbound rules from the router:
1 FTP ALLOW always 192.168.0.2 Any Always
      2 Any(ALL) ALLOW always 192.168.0.2 Any always
      3 Any(UDP) ALLOW always 192.168.0.2 Any Always

I know they are duplicated but was trying them out to see if it worked. I thought opening ports 20 and 21 would do the trick but i was wrong!

      Anyone any ideas?

Ahh, I thought you had opened 2021, not 20 & 21! Go enjoy the fireworks, SKY will have everything fixed by tomorrow!

      Hi,
I setup IIS and FTP on my server and it still does not work.
Not sure if Sky have restricted the ports.
Going to try changing the port.

Nope - changed to port and it still dont work.

I can get logged into via FTP and can appear to upload something as a test but then it will not delete because it says the file isn't there.

At last I can now upload to my FTP server but as I seem to loose the connection to the web every 5 minutes or so this is becoming unusable again. My connection stays up but I can't access web sites for a few minutes.

I am changing my DNS settings back to OpenDNS to see if it makes it any better.

Moving to Sky BB, worst decision I have made but stuck in my 12 month rut now.

      Hi all,

Boab, mine is pretty much the same. I can connect to the FTP server ok but then after trying to upload a few files it refuses to connect after a bit and stops uploading files.

I have just tried to upload some stuff to the same site from work and it works fine.

Yes, i am trying to upload to my own FTP account i have with a web hosting reseller.
