I have only ever used the ethernet cable on my main PC.
I didn't change any settings for the router. It is exactly as Sky set it up.
I think Tier 3 have played with speed and noise settings but nothing has made a difference.
I have played with a wireless Belkin USB on another PC but I still get the same number of dropped connections.
The really weird thing is this 17 minutes thing. It always stops after about 17 mins. I have told Sky and they just don't think that is relevant.
I never had a problem with BT BB so I find it hard to believe it is the line.
I have just tried Sat's settings so will keep my fingers crossed.
I have ordered a new faceplate for my BT phone point which gives inbuilt filters and seperate phone and ADSL sockets.
I can't understand why your cable won't work. i can just plug mine in to any of the 4 available ports?

Control Panel > Network Connections > Right click on your ethernet connection > Left click on properties > Left click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Select obtain an IP address automatically > Select obtain DNS server addresses automatically. Click OK, then OK again, and restart your computer. LAN should then work.
