      Re: Sagem F@ST 2504 to SR-101

The answer depends more on whether you use the WiFi and is any of the devices you use have a WiFi n adaptor.

The main difference betwen the two routers is the WiFi. The Sagem 2504 is a WiFi g router (max connection speed 54mbps). The Sagem SR101 is a WiFi n router with a maximum connection speed of 144mbps.

Most new phones and tablets will connect at up to 65mbps, so these would benefit.

Another important change is to do with the ADSL software inside the routers. The Sky Hub SR101 has some software which will allow Sky's LLU kit to improve your connection speed, provided that your connection will support it. Several members have reported improvements because of this.

DLM is always running in the background and any improvement can be triggered anything from a few days after you change the router, to a few months. I don't have any specific information as to what triggers it to reprofile your line.

Other things such as the speed of the LAN ports are identical. The GUI has a different look and feel. The SR101 does not have the external PSU, so the lead is the same as the Sky+ HD STBs. The router runs quite cool and is white instead of grey.

      No problem.

One other benefit which I forgot to mention is that the WiFi n signal is not only faster, but it is also stronger than the WiFi g signal. This means that you can be further from the router before the signal drops.
